Our President and CEO, Shirley G. Roebuck, has been a trailblazer since 1975 when she was one of few women who aspired to manage a trucking company. What started with the purchase of three trucks has grown into a globally recognized leader in drayage services and intermodal container transportation in the Mid Atlantic. 

Shirley holds the distinct honor of being the first female president of the Virginia Maritime Association, as well as holding positions of vice president and board of directors. She was the first female member of The Propeller Club of Norfolk, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the success and welfare of our ports and maritime communities.  Worked tirelessly to develop lasting collaborative relationships with every significant player in the supply chain. Roebuck has held multiple leadership roles that include President of Virginia Maritime Association and Tidewater Motor Truck Association; Board of Directors, Intermodal Carrier Committee of the American Trucking Association; and chair of the Virginia Port Advisory Committee.  

Since 2000, Gilco Trucking has been strategically located outside the gates of the Portsmouth Marine Terminal on the west bank of the Elizabeth River.
